Patchwork Granny Blanket..

I decided to use the scraps of wool which are left over from various projects.
Making granny squares is really easy and doesn't require much yarn to make  a really lovely project.
Edged in cream DK yarn, this blanket looks really pretty

Virus Shawl...

I decided to crochet this lovely Virus Shawl pattern which I found on You Tube

And using a really soft cotton/wool/acrylic yarn which I bought in John Lewis

King Cole Drifter

Kentucky

400g

I made this lovely soft shawl !

The yarn is a lovely blue, cream and brown mix and I think it is perfectly suited to this project.

The Virus stitch is a bit tricky to start off but once you have completed the first few rounds, the pattern begins to make more sense and it really is a lovely project to complete.

Due the softness of the yarn I think that the shawl drapes really nicely and is very soft to touch.

Special Baby Blankets...

I've  been asked to crochet a couple of baby blankets for a charity event in the summer, so  I decided to stay with my favourite star shaped afghans which are so easy to do and they always look really pretty.

Both are crocheted in acrylic double knitting yarn

There's one for a girl

And one for a boy!!

They look like five pointed star fish and once you get the first few rounds completed they are really easy to do and can be done in any size.

It's all in the bag...

Since there is always a need for an extra bag or two I decide to experiment with crochet string bags in different yarn thicknesses. These fold up into your handbag and hold more than you think, although they do STRETCH quite a bit !!

The green bag is crocheted in Debbie Bliss Mia  wool/cotton mix and the multi-coloured bag is crocheted in a thick variegated double knitting acrylic weight yarn,

Virus Shawl..

Inspired by the square virus blanket I made in September I decided to make a shawl this time

It starts small..

And will grow as big as you want it too

It's still very much a work in progress but I was amused when I saw that the colours matched perfectly the book I was reading !

It is crocheted in Patons Fab Double knitting

Unfortunately, this particular yarn is now discontinued which is such a pity as the colours are stunning

Twiddlemuffs..

Whilst perusing Facebook I came across some information about the use of Twiddlemuffs for people who suffer from dementia.

My mother has this awful disease so I decided to make one for her to try out and I'm pleased to say that she loves it and calls it her 'comforter'

It is knitted by using 2 strands of double knitting wool on size 10 needles

I followed a pattern I found online at The Yarn Loop

It's a free pattern and you can find it here

And I also made a spare...just in case

They are easy-peasy to make and bring such comfort.

Well worth having a go at making one
